ReadyForLoads.com Launches Free Guide to Freight Brokers, Truck Insurance and Compliance for New Carriers

Oct 23, 2026

The new site shows box truck, hotshot and semi owners which of 26 freight brokers will set them up, and offers six free tools built on FMCSA's public records.

San Antonio, Texas, United States, October 23, 2026 /MarketersMEDIA/ -- ReadyForLoads.com, a free guide for box truck, hotshot and semi owners who run their own authority, went live on October 22. Its pages follow a small carrier from the first MC filing to the second truck. They cover which brokers will load a new authority, the insurance limits those brokers ask for, getting paid on time and the federal filings that come due every year.

The broker guide compares the setup rules of 26 freight brokers that work with new authority, each taken from the broker's own carrier page and dated by when it was checked. Nine of the 26 state an authority-age rule. Those rules run from seven days at C.H. Robinson to one year at Allen Lund, so a carrier with a 60-day-old MC qualifies at some brokers and waits most of a year at others.

Insurance minimums are more uniform. FMCSA requires $750,000 in liability for most for-hire freight trucks, but 20 of the 21 brokers that publish a liability minimum ask for $1 million or more, and 21 of the 22 that publish a cargo minimum want $100,000 or more. Across 60 premium reports owners posted on trucking forums, the middle half paid $12,000 to $25,200 a year.

Six free tools apply those rules to a carrier's own authority. The load-ready check takes a DOT or MC number and lists the brokers and load programs that will set the carrier up today, the ones that open at 90 and 180 days and the coverage that would open the rest. The status check shows what FMCSA lists for the carrier's authority and insurance filing, plus its MCS-150 month and the next UCR and IFTA dates. Other tools estimate first-year startup costs, compare factoring with quick pay and look up a broker's authority and bond before a load. None of them asks for a name, phone number or email.

Carrier facts come from FMCSA's public files, and each one shows the date of the file it came from. Costs owners report are labeled as reports, with the count behind each figure. The site never displays the phone numbers or email addresses found in FMCSA's records.

"New carriers spend their first weeks calling brokers to learn who will set them up," said Michael Gray, editor of Ready for Loads. "Most of the brokers we cover don't publish an age rule at all. We put the rules that are published next to each carrier's own FMCSA record, so an owner can see where to call first."

Ready for Loads also publishes guides to getting loads, commercial truck insurance, getting paid and the recurring federal filings an interstate carrier owes. The site is free to use. Anyone can flag a listing that needs fixing, and every page shows the date it last changed.
