A recent review said: “In Blind Pig, Cochran once again blends a fantastic fictional narrative and richly textured character development with snappy dialogue, evolving a vibe that hasn’t been achieved since the legendary Elmore Leonard.”

The “Detroit Thorn Birds vs Detroit Mafia” series mixes facts and fiction about the mob take over of the city after the riots of 1967. The author strives to keep a fine line between fact and fiction as he weaves the drama.

The series is about regular people fighting back, trying to maintain their dignity in a city of doom and gloom. Cochran adopted and adapted the term “Detroit Thorn Birds” from the Celtic legend of the thorn bird that would not give up until it achieved its goal.

These people strive to succeed, no matter what odds they face. They are driven to achieve their mission and to accomplish their goal, and it’s this determination that is at the heart of the thorn birds of Detroit.

Unfettered by intimidation, extortion and violence, the Detroit thorn birds challenge the Mafia. Detective Clark Phillips is upping the ante as his team of detectives and FBI agents embark on an operation to undercut the Mafia.

Cochran states that much of his writing is based on real life experiences, as he lived in Detroit for several years during the time frame of the stories. As a basketball coach for Western High School on Detroit’s Southwest side, he got to know athletes on a personal level, gaining insights regarding their struggles to survive. Another example, SAX CLUB, the first book in the series, was a real place in Detroit. It’s where Cochran met his friends to let their hair down after a tough week. Many of his experiences from that time are coming alive in the stories he writes.

Future books are in the works, including the upcoming “Get Even”. More information is available on the URL above.
