New British Author On a Trajectory to Become the Roald Dahl of the Picture Book World

October 30, 2020 - /PressAdvantage/ - Picture book author Daniel Williamson has once again tasted success with his latest successful publication "The Witchetty Grub and the Grubbety Witch". His newest picture book has been getting rave reviews from those who have purchased the paperback and digital editions on Amazon and read it to their children. One reviewer even went as far as to suggest that Williamson’s newest children’s book was so good, she compared him to Roald Dahl - one of the most beloved children’s book authors of all time. Roald’s books such as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Matilda” have sold over 250 million copies worldwide.

"The Witchetty Grub and the Grubbety Witch" is a story that pairs the most unlikely of companions who were brought together by fate. Instead of being dismayed by one day stumbling upon the witch and seeing her cast evil spells down onto the city, the grub chooses to become a new friend to look after her. The grub proceeds to do such things for the witch such as washing her face & hair, jumping on her warts, cleaning her teeth, and sewing up her clothes. As a result of her new found friendship that completely changes her perspective on life, the witch decides to stop casting spells onto the city and value her new friendship instead. A beautiful message about valuing special people that come into our lives, no matter their size or shape.

This newly released book received over 30 glowing reviews on Amazon in the first weekend after publication, with an average score of 4.9 out of a possible 5 stars. A reviewer from the United Kingdom, Dr. Jana Broecker wrote, ““The New Roald Dahl? - both of my boys (8 and 4 yrs) very much enjoyed this book. In fact, the writing style reminds me of that of Roald Dahl, because like Dahl the author manages to keep the book fun and interesting for kids and adults alike. Having said that, the story is a brilliant combination of entertaining, yet thought-provoking writing. The illustrations are bold and vibrant, and the rhymes flow well. I can assure you that this book will stay on your mind, because you won’t see the plot twist at the end coming. Overall, I can highly recommend this book.”

Toby Williams says, “A humorous spin on finding a unique friendship with someone who is different. By being kind, a kinship develops between a craggy old witch and a spit-spot bug of a grub. I found myself laughing out loud with the whimsical phrases and rhyming verses. Great fun.” It even received a big thumbs-up from teacher Author Nat who says, “I really like this book. I’m not a Halloween or witch kind of reader but I loved this book. This shows children that it is always good to be kind. And there’s always a kind-hearted person out there. As a teacher, I love rhyming books as these tend to build confident readers. Nice job!”

Williamson says, “Growing up, Roald Dahl was just magnificent to me. I read all of his books multiple times and I'm sure the magic he injects into words and stories has influenced me more than anyone else. ” He added this about his latest story; "When I published 'The Witchetty Grub and the Grubbety Witch' I remember searching for 'Witch picture book' on Amazon just to see where it was on the site. To my joy and amazement, I was on the first page and directly below Roald Dahl's 'The Witches'. Just to see my book next to my idol’s was an amazing feeling. To then read reviews of readers comparing me to him is just mind-blowing."
