Bailey Edwards, son of actor and director Anthony Edwards has announced his lead role in independent psychological thriller, “M.O.M.” (Mothers of Monsters). The film is about a single mother who suspects her son is a psychopath capable of murder. When he slips through the cracks of the system she is forced to take matters into her own hands.

Independent feature film “M.O.M.” (Mothers of Monsters) has been announced, with a lead role being played by Bailey Edwards, Anthony Edwards’ son. This is a breakout role for Bailey Edwards and he is determined to be a self-made actor, which can be challenging with a famous father.

Bailey was quoted saying, “I realized about half way through the audition process that the producers had no idea Anthony Edwards was my dad and because it can sometimes be rare to be seen just as me I decided to keep it to myself for the rest of the chemistry tests. It wasn’t until after I was offered the part that I finally brought it up and the fact that they didn’t know gave me much more ownership over the role.”

The film has a very relevant social theme, especially considering the recent momentum of the “enough is enough” movement. M.O.M. wrapped principal photography the same week as the tragic Parkland Florida school shooting and is currently in post-production, seeking distribution.

Mothers of Monsters is the first directing project of Tucia Lyman who has 15 years of experience writing and directing programs seen on Discovery Channel, TLC, Syfy, National Geographic, Destination America and the Travel Channel. For the making of M.O.M. she teamed up with a powerhouse of like-minded women to tackle the difficult subject matter of the film.

Her goal with this project is to tap into the younger audience and hopefully give them a good movie experience as well as to keep the conversation going about gun violence, school shootings and stigma surrounding mental health in America.

The recently released trailer and information on how to get involved with the distribution of this project can be found at the link above.

Atletico eliminated by Girona in last 16 of Copa del Rey

Jan 17, 2019

MADRID — Antoine Griezmann's late goal couldn't save Atletico Madrid as its defense faltered in a surprising elimination to Girona in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday. Real Madrid and Sevilla lost their matches but both had big first-leg leads and advanced to the tournament's quarterfinals. Atletico's usually stout defense struggled in a 3-3 draw and allowed an 88th-minute equalizer that kept Diego Simeone's team from reaching the last eight for the first time since the coach took over in 2012. It was the first time Atletico conceded three goals at home since it moved...

Henry's Monaco draws 1-1 with Vieira's Nice in French league

Jan 17, 2019

PARIS — Old friends Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira had to split the points as Monaco drew 1-1 with French Riviera rival Nice on Wednesday in a scrappy match featuring three video reviews. Winger Allan Saint-Maximin put Nice ahead in the 30th minute and 17-year-old defender Benoit Badiashile equalized shortly after halftime, becoming the youngest scorer in the French top flight this season. Badiashile's header from a corner was deemed to have crossed the line by the use of goal-line technology. Henry and Vieira are in their first seasons coaching in France, but they go way back and hugged warmly...

BERLIN — Six points behind midway through the season, Bayern Munich's bid to catch Bundesliga leader Borussia Dortmund begins Friday at Hoffenheim. The six-time defending champions find themselves in the unusual position of challengers after a difficult opening half to the season. Bayern dropped points at home against Augsburg, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Freiburg and Fortuna Duesseldorf, while losing matches at Hertha Berlin and Dortmund. Dortmund, meanwhile, stayed unbeaten until a 2-1 loss at Duesseldorf shortly before the league's four-week winter break. Playing fast-paced attacking soccer, Dortmund has brought a breath of fresh air to the league. For the first time in...

Starring role beckons for Alphonso Davies at Bayern Munich

Jan 17, 2019

BERLIN — Canadian teenager Alphonso Davies could be thrown in at the deep end. The 18-year-old winger will likely get his first taste of Bundesliga action for Bayern Munich in the coming weeks, if not on Friday. Bayern restarts the league after the winter break at Hoffenheim, where Davies could play because of injuries to Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben. Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman are the only two other healthy wingers Bayern has. Davies, a naturalized Canadian born in Ghana, completed his $22 million transfer from the Vancouver Whitecaps this month and made his Bayern debut on Sunday in...

Griezmann standing in way of Barcelona's title march

Jan 17, 2019

BARCELONA, Spain — Antoine Griezmann is almost single-handedly keeping Atletico Madrid in the Spanish league title race. With the league at its halfway point, Griezmann is challenging Barcelona's Lionel Messi for the status of most valuable player for their clubs. While Messi is beyond doubt the top player in Spain — and more — Atletico has stayed in second place behind Barcelona almost exclusively thanks to the goals of Griezmann. The France forward has done more than any other of his teammates, especially in recent weeks, to keep Atletico five points behind Barcelona. And with Sevilla and Real Madrid already...
